Welcome to “How to Make Money Online”, a site dedicated to the methods and issues relevant to constructing a viable Affiliate Marketing site. We fully appreciate that there are many other ways to create an income online i.e. Online Gambling, Share Market, Money Markets, Competitions, Publishing, Online Auctions, Gaming, etc, the list is almost endless. But we will leave these for other sites; there are many that cover all aspects of online money matters, including our topic, Affiliate Marketing. We will endeavour to simplify what we believe is a reasonably complex area of today’s online world, and hopefully that will set us apart from the rest.
You have no doubt seen or heard a lot about small fortunes being made with Affiliate Marketing. How much of it is true, and how much is advertising hype is difficult to say, however it is clear from my research that there is some substance to the wealth created by experienced marketers. What is also clear is that there are a lot of less experienced operators that are making smaller amounts but still enough to be classed as a second income. It’s also worth noting that there are a lot of blatant liars in this arena that are simply after your money. Our hope is to guide you through this maze so that you can generate cash without too much effort or investment on your part.
Purpose: the purpose of this site is to share the knowledge that we have accumulated, to educate, and assist those that are interested in Affiliate Marketing.
Scope: this guide is intended to cater for those with little or no computer skills who want to knowledge about the online world, and as such, will be equally useful for those who wish to create a website or blog site without necessarily becoming an Affiliate Marketer.
Target group: the target group is the beginner or novice through to the intermediate Affiliate Marketer. The hope is that our audience will grow with us and that we can move to more advanced topics as time goes by.

Before building this site I spent about 2 months researching the components. Domain Names, Hosting, Platforms, Affiliate Programs, Blogs, Add-ons, Plug-ins, Themes, and on it goes. To say I was completely overwhelmed would be an understatement. Whilst being no stranger to technology, I have always avoided web sites like the plaque mainly because i have spent too much of life trying to unravel new technologies. Now that I have revisited the idea of having an online presence I am very happy to see the evolution that has taken place and things are certainly a lot easier now than they were a few years ago. If anything, now there is too much choice.
There will be experienced web masters, bloggers, and Affiliate marketers that will scoff at the information that this site presents on the basis that it is all too basic. That’s fine I don’t have an issue with that, but keep in mind that there are a lot of people out there that would like to get online but just don’t know where to start. So if you can contribute to the cause please feel free to add comment s where appropriate.
This site is loaded with advertising and I make no apology for that, it has 3 purposes;
- As an example of a monetized Affiliate Marketing site (although I recommend a toned down version for best results as I will explain later).
- To display some of the preferred Affiliate Programs available.
- To hopefully generate a small income to keep this site financially viable.
We will also do periodic evaluations of some popular Affiliate Programs and post details in our Posts section. As well if we come across any nasties (I can think of a couple already) you can read all about them in our Posts Bad Apples Category.
A Word of Caution: It is very easy to become overwhelmed when starting your journey in Affiliate Marketing. The more time you spend researching and trying to get on top of the vast amounts of knowledge available, the more will be thrown at you. There is a seemingly unlimited supply of Affiliate Programs, special offers, plugins, tutorials, videos, etc and these will be pushed at you so fast that your head will spin. Also be aware that there is a huge market now where Affiliates promote products to other Affiliates (particularly newbies) often with hype about how this is the latest “must have” for Affiliate Marketers. Often the path is paved with a truckload of freebies to gain your custom. Take my advice, do your research, avoid the touts, especially if the offers are to good to be true, and settle on one or two quality Affiliate Programs to start your marketing with. Otherwise you will end up with a hard drive full of junk, some of which you have paid for, and some of which was free, and total confusion.
In coming weeks I hope to publish what I believe to be the Top 10 Affiliate Programs available at the current time. An example of a quality program is Commission Factory (video below). Whilst this is an Australian Program and therefore suitable mainly for Australian residents, or for those with a marketing plan for Australia (not a bad idea, the economy is hot there at the moment), it serves as a good example. The site is easy to use, has real time stats, great merchants, and pays reasonable commissions.
